NWA wrestling show pins down exclusive Roku streaming deal

The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) will bring its flagship show, “NWA Powerrr,” exclusively to Roku. The pact gives the NWA its first dedicated home for new episodes in over two decades.

Main event talk: NWA Owner and Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan called the partnership with the “#1 TV streaming platform in North America” a “moment to be proud of,” per Roku’s announcement. Roku’s Head of Sports, Joe Franzetta, added they’re “thrilled” to leverage their platform’s scale for the “historic and storied promotion.”

Building the card: Corgan, who has worked to revitalize the NWA since acquiring it, noted the Roku agreement took “at least six to nine months to put together,” according to WrestleZone. This new exclusive for first-run “NWA Powerrr” episodes complements Roku’s existing Wrestling Central FAST channel, which launched a month prior and includes NWA library content alongside WOW – Women Of Wrestling.

Powerrr hour: Starting July 29, fans in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico can catch new “NWA Powerrr” episodes free every Tuesday at 8 PM ET on The Roku Channel. Stateside, the action will be spotlighted on the Roku Sports Channel. For the NWA, the Roku deal offers a consistent, high-visibility platform crucial for its revival, while Roku further diversifies its free sports content to capture a dedicated fanbase. Beyond its new streaming home, the NWA is finding creative ways to gain exposure, such as NWA talent performing at Smashing Pumpkins concerts.
