DAZN’s New $45 Plan Is a Gamble to End Pay-Per-View

Sports streamer DAZN is betting it can kill the traditional pay-per-view model with the launch of its “DAZN Ultimate” plan, an all-inclusive tier that bundles its biggest boxing events into a single monthly subscription. The move is a direct challenge to the expensive, one-off purchases that have long defined how fans watch the sport.

  • The main event: For $44.99 a month in the U.S., subscribers get at least 12 PPV events annually on top of the 185+ other fight nights on the platform. For hardcore boxing fans, DAZN claims the new plan could translate to over $500 in annual savings.

  • A stacked undercard: To sweeten the deal, the plan launches with a lineup of high-profile bouts, including the Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn 2 rematch on November 15 and the “Ring IV: Night of Champions” card on November 22. The premium price also unlocks a better viewing experience, with select events offered in HDR and Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

  • A divided championship: The plan consolidates bouts from major partners like Matchroom and Golden Boy, but as Sports Illustrated notes, it doesn't cover the entire world of boxing. Key promotions like Premier Boxing Champions and Top Rank remain with competitors Amazon Prime and ESPN+, respectively.

DAZN is making a bold play for predictable revenue, but for fans, the dream of a single, all-access pass for the sport remains a fantasy. The move comes as consumers navigate an increasingly complex and fragmented streaming market. Meanwhile, DAZN is adding friction for some potential customers, noting that subscribers who pay through third-party platforms like Apple or Google are not eligible for the new Ultimate plan.
